SkinOracle Terms of Use

Version 1.2 · 3 November 2026

Please read these terms. When you tap I agree in the SkinOracle app, you accept them. If you don’t agree, you can’t use the app. The most important parts are in bold.

IMPORTANT: SkinOracle does not provide or endorse any medical opinion, diagnosis, treatment or recommendation. If you have a medical question, ALWAYS consult a doctor. Never ignore or delay a doctor’s advice because of something you read in SkinOracle.

1. Who we are

SkinOracle is provided by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] (“SkinOracle”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@skinoracle.ai.

2. Who can use SkinOracle

You must be at least 18 years old to use the app. (A version for 13–17 year olds, used with a parent’s permission, may come later. Until then the app stops after the age question for anyone under 18.)

You must be able to agree to a contract where you live, and you must use SkinOracle only for yourself.

3. What SkinOracle is, and what it isn’t

SkinOracle helps you understand and organise your skincare: the products on your shelf, your routine, how your skin changes over time, and what may be affecting it.

It is wellness and education, not medical care. Nothing in SkinOracle is a medical opinion, advice, diagnosis, treatment or recommendation, and SkinOracle does not endorse any. It is not a substitute for a doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist. If you have a medical question, always consult a doctor. Always follow the directions and warnings on a product’s own label. Patch-test new products. If your skin is painful, bleeding, spreading, changing quickly or worrying you, or if you have a reaction, stop using the product and see a doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Some information comes from computers and other sources, and it can be wrong. SkinOracle uses artificial intelligence (on your iPhone and on our servers, including Apple Intelligence and Anthropic’s Claude), product databases (such as Open Beauty Facts) and the text it reads from your photos. Product names, types, ingredient lists and other details it finds are suggestions marked “please check”: compare them with the product in your hand before you rely on them. We don’t promise that any information is complete, current or correct.

We don’t sell skincare products, and we don’t endorse any brand. Mentions of products, brands or shops are for information only.

4. Your phone and your account

You can use SkinOracle without an account. If you create one, keep your sign-in details safe and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You’re responsible for what happens on your device and your account.

5. Your photos and personal information

Photos of your face and skin, your check-ins and your notes stay on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to SkinOracle. A copy of each photo of you that you keep is also saved in your Photos app (in the “Skin Oracle Photos” album). They are only shared when you choose photos and send them. How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy at skinoracle.ai/privacy, which is part of these terms.

Why we ask for your name, email address, postal address and phone number. If you create an account, subscribe or contact us, we may ask for these details. We use them solely for communication between SkinOracle and you: for example, to send your sign-in codes, to answer your questions, to tell you about your account or subscription, and, only if you sign up for them, to send our newsletters.

We never sell your name, email address or any other personal information, and we never use it, rent it or share it for marketing by anyone else.

We keep your personal information separate from product and usage information, and we encrypt it when it is sent and when it is stored. We work hard to protect it, but no system is completely secure, so we can’t promise that it can never be accessed without permission. If that ever happens, we will tell you as the law requires.

6. Product and usage information

SkinOracle reserves the right to gather information solely about products and how they are used. We use it to build a better product guide for everyone. We never attach your personal information or your personal health conditions to product information, and it is not linked to your name, email address or account.

Your personally identifiable information, such as your name, address, email address and phone number, is private to you. We don’t share it unless you explicitly give permission (for example, the display name you choose is shown to friends in groups you decide to join).

The product information we gather includes:

  • the product’s barcode, name, brand, type and ingredients, and where each detail came from;
  • a cropped photo of the product’s packaging (never a photo of a person; photos in which the app detects a face or a body are not sent) and the text printed on the label, with personal details such as names and phone numbers removed (pharmacy labels are never sent);
  • the answer an AI service gave about the product;
  • anonymous usage, for example how often and at what hour a product was used, when it was opened, finished or given up and the reason you gave, your phone model and iOS version, and your country.

To identify a product, the photo of the product (and its label text) may be sent to an AI service provider, such as Anthropic, that works for us.

SkinOracle owns the product database built from this information, and may use, share, license or sell product information and insights from it, for example “this moisturiser is usually used twice a day for three months” or “this serum is often given up after a few uses”. We never sell or share information that identifies you. Where product data comes from Open Beauty Facts, it remains available under the Open Database License.

You can stop sharing at any time in the app: You › Privacy › Share anonymous product data. Information already shared can’t be traced back to you, so it can’t be removed afterwards.

7. Things you agree not to do

Please don’t:

  • use SkinOracle for anything illegal or harmful, or to harm or harass anyone;
  • upload photos or text about other people without their permission, or anything offensive or unlawful;
  • try to break, overload, scrape, copy, reverse-engineer or get around the security of the app or our servers;
  • pretend to be someone else, or use SkinOracle to send spam or advertising;
  • in community features, post medical claims, sell products, or share anyone’s personal information.

We may remove content or suspend access if these terms are broken.

8. Things you share in the community

If you post in community features or send us feedback, you keep ownership of what you wrote, and you give SkinOracle a worldwide, free, non-exclusive licence to host, show, adapt and use it to run and improve SkinOracle. Please only share what you’re happy for others to see.

9. Payments

SkinOracle may offer paid features or a monthly subscription. The price is always shown before you buy. Depending on where you live and how you subscribe, you pay either:

  • on our website or through a link in the app, through our payment provider (Stripe or Shopify). Your card details go straight to the payment provider. SkinOracle never sees or stores your full card number. We receive only what we need to run your subscription, such as your name, email address, billing address and the last four digits of your card. You can cancel any time in the app or by emailing us, and the subscription stays active until the end of the month you’ve paid for; or
  • through Apple’s App Store, under Apple’s terms. You cancel in your Apple ID settings, and refunds are handled by Apple.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. We’ll tell you before any price change takes effect, and you can cancel before it does.

10. Our app and content

SkinOracle, its name, logo, design, text, illustrations and software belong to SkinOracle or its licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and Apple’s Usage Rules.

11. Other services

SkinOracle works with services run by others, such as Apple (the App Store, Apple Intelligence, Apple Weather, Apple Health), Anthropic, Open Beauty Facts and our hosting provider. Their own terms may also apply, and we aren’t responsible for them. Links to other websites are for convenience only.

12. Changes

SkinOracle will change over time. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, the app will show the new terms and ask you to agree again before you continue.

13. Ending

You can stop using SkinOracle at any time and delete everything from your phone with You › Privacy › Delete everything (the app will then ask you to agree to these terms again), then remove the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering SkinOracle. Sections 3, 6, 8, 10 and 14 to 16 continue after the end.

14. No warranties

SkinOracle is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about the app or its information, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted, free of errors or right for your skin.

15. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, SkinOracle won’t be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any reaction, injury or loss that comes from using a product or following information in the app. Our total liability to you for anything to do with SkinOracle is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can’t be limited by law.

You agree to cover reasonable losses SkinOracle suffers because you broke these terms or the law.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts of [VENUE], unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts. [DISPUTE RESOLUTION / ARBITRATION CLAUSE, IF ANY, TO BE CONFIRMED BY COUNSEL.]

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and SkinOracle about the app.

17. Apple

These terms are between you and SkinOracle, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for SkinOracle or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If SkinOracle doesn’t meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app (if any); to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. SkinOracle, not Apple, is responsible for any claims about the app (including product liability, failing to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection, privacy or similar laws), and for investigating and handling any claim that the app infringes someone’s intellectual property. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on a US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
